A huge, structured wine, the 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Cœur du Roy Vieilles Vignes is all about tension, minerality and power. The Cœur du Roy doesn’t have the overt fruit of the Evocelles, rather it is a wine that stands out for its persistence. The firm tannins are going to require some time to settle down. Bernard Dugat used 75% whole clusters and new oak was around 65%. Drink 2020-2033
